This code of conduct was approved by a meeting of the Steering Group of the Organisation on 15th October 2004. It became effective from that date. The word "members" used below shall apply to all members of the Organisation, at whatever grade of membership.
Members shall act with integrity so as to uphold the standing and reputation of the Organisation.
A member of the Planning Engineers Organisation shall faithfully, honourably and diligently carry out his / her duties as a responsible planner/scheduler at all times, having proper regard for the interest of his / her employer, the client, the design consultants and all other persons involved in the design, procurement, manufacturing, assembly and/or construction of projects.
Members of the Organisation shall at all times exercise reasonable skill and care in performing the duties of a planner/scheduler.
Members of the Organisation shall at all times act with professionalism, courtesy and integrity in all dealings with fellow professionals, whatever their background.
Members of the Organisation shall always attempt to raise the standards of planning and scheduling. Members are encouraged to recognise their own skills and set a personal development plan (PDP) to improve these.
Members shall not seek, directly or indirectly, to injure the professional status of another member.
Members shall not knowingly misrepresent the views of the Organisation.
Members shall not claim to be the author of work or papers submitted to the Organisation, when they are not.
Only members of the Organisation shall describe themselves as a qualified planner or scheduler and use the designation FPEO or MPEO.
Employed members shall take every care to disclose to their employer any conflict of interest which may arise between themselves and their employer.
Those members who are self-employed who provide planning/scheduling services directly to a client shall seek and obtain the appropriate level of professional indemnity insurance.
Those members who are employed shall use their best endeavours to ensure their employer holds the appropriate level of professional indemnity insurance.
Those members, be they employed or self-employed, who receives instructions from clients to provide planning/scheduler services shall ensure that they have the appropriate level of skills, experience and resources to undertake that work.
If they knowingly do not have the skills, experience or resources to undertake planning/scheduling services, a member must decline to accept that commission or instruction. Where appropriate, members should advise the client of other firms, resources or individuals that in the opinion of the member, are available to undertake such work.
Members shall, before commencing work, ensure that there is in place an agreed terms of engagement that clearly sets out the work to be done, the timescale involved and the deliverables to be produced.
Members shall report to the Organisation, any breach of this Code of Conduct that becomes known to them.
If a member leaves the Organisation that person shall cease immediately their use of the designation FPEO, MPEO or APEO. Such persons shall not claim to be a current member of the Organisation.
If having previously left the Organisation, applications to re-apply for membership shall be subject to payment of all back-dated membership fees, from the date the member left the Organisation.
